Our WIL+ Projects are support by skills development!
The Fourth Industrial Revolution, as described by the World Economic Forum, will fundamentally change the way we live, work, learn and relate to one another. Unlike previous industrial revolutions, the speed of technology and innovation requires us to act and evolve at an unprecedented pace. As we navigate a world impacted by this change on a global level, now is the time to address the shifting job roles, skill sets and student interactions with employers. This includes how we should be looking at Work Integrated Learning Programs. The impact of WIL programs not adapting to these changes can be seen and felt at the very early stages of an individual’s journey into the world of work. betterU, having worked in some of the most difficult global environments, understands how to support students in becoming job ready.
This is where betterU’s WIL+ comes in!
betterU is guided by our mandate to provide access to skills opportunities to anyone and everyone to help them have a better life. The aim of our WIL+ Program is to close the skills gap between individuals and employers by creating an ecosystem that fosters sustainable growth and continued success for all involved.
What is WIL?
Work-integrated learning is a model and process of curricular experiential education which formally and intentionally integrates a student’s academic studies within a workplace or practice setting. WIL experiences include an engaged partnership of at least: an academic institution, a host organization and a student. WIL can occur at the course or program level and includes the development of learning outcomes related to employability, personal agency and life-long learning.

What is WIL+ ?
Work-integrated learning PLUS goes beyond simply providing access to students to work on projects within a corporate environment. Many students fail to be job ready because they are not learning the skills required to excel in their WIL experience and beyond. The WIL+ program includes individualized skills assessments related to a student’s WIL placement, followed by individualized skills development support. Students access skill development opportunities while increasing their chances to be future ready.
